About "Svetlika"

Integrative oncology

Definition of integrative oncology emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based care that incorporates physical and spiritual approaches, natural remedies, and lifestyle adjustments from various traditions alongside concurrent medical treatment for cancer.

In simple terms: alongside conventional cancer treatment (chemotherapy, radiation, surgery), the aim is to support the individual in their environment, strengthen their spirit, and empower them to lead a fulfilling life in their given situation.

Black cohosh, or grape-like black cohosh

Black cohosh, or grape-like black cohosh, is a healing plant originating from Canada and North America. Natives were well acquainted with its healing properties. They used the root to alleviate problems after snake bites, during childbirth, for kidney problems, arthritis, and other health issues. The plant’s juice was also used to repel insects, as its Latin name, Cimicifuga racemosa, means driving away bedbugs (‘cimex’ bedbug, ‘fugare’ to put to flight). “Racemosa” means growing in clusters. In the 19th century, it was used in Europe to treat tuberculosis and complications of rheumatic fever. Today, black cohosh is a highly researched plant. Its beneficial effects are evident in menopausal issues, both physical and psychological, as it reduces hot flashes, redness, sleep disturbances, mood swings, lethargy, depression, and more. It also helps with headaches, sore throats, and bronchitis.

The name ‘svetlika’ (translated as “little light”) carries another meaning, my meaning. In the sound of the word, a light sparkles. Like a spark of hope when it’s dark around.

This is how I want to awaken/strengthen that light that is present in each of us, to express itself and thus contribute to a brighter day and life, even when life brings trials.
